Viruses, spams, worms, and trojans are some of the many security threats to your network. These threats have become so advanced and complicated that oftentimes you are unaware that your system has already been infected.
SENTINEL Managed Security Solutions is a complete network security service. It is a solution that incorporates unified threat management (UTM) equipment, remote management, and monthly reports to provide you an impregnable security platform to safeguard your network.
SENTINEL Managed Security Solutions will employ the use of industry-leading Unified Threat Management (UTM) devices that are capable of the following services:
Firewall
Limits access to the network and resources to authorized users only, thereby protecting proprietary applications and confidential information.
Anti-virus
Protects the network from external virus attacks, preventing system crashes and operational inefficiencies. Sentinel screens incoming traffic for possible virus attacks.
Anti-spam
Minimizes the occurrence of unsolicited emails, preventing unnecessary memory and storage usage.
Intrusion Detection and Prevention
Identifies and prevents attacks from hackers / malicious users / unauthorized persons, ensuring that confidential company information is secure.
Content Filtering
Limits users' access to unauthorized websites and instant messengers, enhancing the organization's productivity.
Demilitarized Zone
Serves as a "neutral zone" between an organization's internal network and an external network, preventing direct, unauthorized connections. It is used for connecting servers that need to be accessed from outside e.g. public web servers and mail servers.
Virtual Private Network
Allows for a secure and high-performance connection to a private network or over the Internet. It uses encryptions to hide classified information.

1. What is Sentinel?
Sentinel is a complete network security solution that incorporates unified threat management (UTM) equipment, remote management and monthly reports to provide a managed security platform to corporate networks.
2. What is Unified Threat Management (UTM)?
Unified Threat Management is a system where the security hardware can do multiple security functions including but not limited to firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering, intrusion detection and prevention, demilitarized zones, and virtual private networks.
3. What is a firewall (FW)?
A firewall is a system that controls access to and from the client's network. It can allow or deny access going into or out of the network. It can be either hardware-based or software-based.
4. What is an anti-virus (AV)?
An anti-virus is a system that checks if data passing through the network contain viruses. It identifies the virus by looking for virus signatures or patterns.
5. What is a virus?
A virus is malicious software that can destroy or alter data. It infects unprotected computers and can make itself via email or through network as well as through the Internet.
6. What is anti-spam (AS)?
An anti-spam solution is a system that checks if data passing through contains spam email. It identifies the spam by looking for spam signatures or patterns.
7. What is spam?
Spam is the term used to describe unsolicited email. They usually promote products, services or websites.
8. What is content filtering?
Content filtering is a system that controls what web sites or destinations on the Internet are accessible to users.
9. What is an intrusion prevention system (IPS)?
Intrusion refers to how hackers try to enter a network. Intrusion prevention systems help protect the client's network by detecting malicious access into the network and denying access.
10. What is a demilitarized zone (DMZ)?
While a firewall can restrict access into the network, some clients may want part of their network to be accessible from outside. This is the demilitarized zone - a portion of the network that allows restricted access to outside users. Usually, public web servers and mail servers are part of the DMZ.
11. What is a virtual private network (VPN)?
A virtual private network is a system that secures communication between computers on the Internet. Unauthorized communications will result in garbled data, while the intended users will get meaningful information. VPNs use encryption to hide information.
12. Can a client buy just the equipment from Prime Communications?
No. Sentinel is a managed security service and is not an equipment for sale. Prime Communications offers a complete solution that includes managing the UTM equipment and generating monthly reports. Report analysis and quarterly consultation are add-ons included in the higher packages.
13. Won't Prime Communications displace the I.T. manager or I.T. personnel?
No. In fact, Sentinel will complement the work of the I.T. group of the client. Since Prime Communications will cover the day-to-day operations of Sentinel, the organization's I.T. personnel can focus more on their company's core business.
14. What is the value proposition of Sentinel?
Sentinel is a service and not simply the sale of equipment. When a supplier sells equipment, the management of the equipment is not included; otherwise, they charge an hourly rate. Additionally, from the second year onwards, the client has to purchase annual updates, licenses and hardware return policies in order to enjoy continuous and updated protection.
Sentinel is a managed service that liberates the organization from the tedium of maintaining their network security. The service includes a replacement warranty for the equipment, and licenses and updates are continuous as long as the client remains subscribed to Sentinel.
15. What are other similar products competing with Sentinel?
Sentinel is a unique solution that is unmatched in the market. It is the only managed security service from a service provider.
Competitors are systems integrators (SIs) who commonly offer security equipment for sale. Ownership of the equipment, and therefore all responsibilities related to it, is turned over to the client. This also represents a huge capital expenditure, when the client buys the equipment outright.
In contrast, Sentinel is a subscription service. The client does not buy equipment but rather pays a monthly service fee. Ownership of the equipment remains with Prime Communications and it is the responsibility of Prime Communications to ensure that the service delivers as expected to the client.
16. What are the variants of Sentinel?
Sentinel is divided into four variants: Sentinel Lite, Sentinel Pro, Sentinel Enterprise and Sentinel Customized. The variants cater to different company sizes and security requirements. Each variant addresses different needs.
Sentinel Lite is suited for small to medium-sized offices whose needs include basic firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam and restriction of web sites.
Sentinel Pro is suited for small to medium-sized offices whose needs may include running their own public servers and thus have a need for a DMZ and IPS.
Sentinel Enterprise is geared towards medium to large companies with branches or mobile users utilizing VPNs to connect to the head office.
Sentinel Customized targets large companies and multinational whose security needs are beyond standard configurations.
17. What does the monthly report include?
The monthly report will show statistics on how many illegal accesses were denied and how many intrusions were detected and blocked. For Sentinel Pro and higher packages, an analysis of the report is included
18. What does the monthly report include?
The monthly report will show statistics on how many illegal accesses were denied and how many intrusions were detected and blocked. For Sentinel Pro and higher packages, an analysis of the report is included.
